Summer Lovin....I mean Lovin Summer

Georgia was so much fun! I have been pretty busy but I am finally getting around to blogging about my trip. The best part for me was just playing baseball in the yard with my brother, sister, her financee, and the 3 oldest kiddos. It was so great! We also swam, went to a Braves game, and went to a place with inflatable slides and bounce houses. Clarissa can climb those things better than I can, she wore me out!! It was just fun to be with my family and play with the kids. And of course the baby blessing and BBQ afterwards were fun too. Savannah is so sweet!

The first night we swam Joshua could hardly paddle and wouldn't go under water. By the end of the trip he could swim under water for several seconds. He learned so fast! I let him use my goggles and that seemed to really help him swim better, since he could see what was below. My dad gave him a dollar for making it from one side to the other. He was trying so hard!! It was SO cute! Brenna on the other hand had two near drowning incidents. She was too brave for her own good and was in the deep end on her own. It was pretty scary.

I finished this week long training for work the other day. It wasn't as bad as some people made it sound but it was 2 days straight of role playing and then 3 days straight of physical stuff. Overall I had to do 2 written tests, a role-play test, and a physical skills test. It was sort of stressful but they make it pretty easy to pass. I'm glad it is over though. It was nice to have a normal schedule for a week and I learned some good things, but I missed the kids and I missed sleeping in. :)

Last week, Mel and I had a dream fulfilled. We went and saw our most favorite Mat Kearney. (check out matkearney.com) He is seriously one of the best musicians. He opened for Keane, another band that I LOVE. It was such and entertaining show and we were so pumped to be there. It was such a great night, including eating the best pizza of our lives and meeting a cute puppy named Bentley. A few days after that we went and saw Mae, another band I love. They weren't as good as when I saw them before but it was still fun. It has been a really fun month so far and I am just way pumped that it is almost summer. I am playing on a kickball team and an ultimate frisbee team right now and will hopefully get a softball team going in June. It's going to be a great summer!

My sister is GETTING MARRIED!! June 20th!! Can you even believe it? I can't!!

I Told You So

Manny is a cheater, and I knew it all along. He was suspended for 50 games for the use of a banned substance associated with Steriods. Finally.

Just a few things:

1) Brian and Devynn are expecting baby #3- it's all over facebook so I assume I can share this knowledge now.
2) Sandra should be having baby #4 any day now
3) I am going to Georgia at the end of the month for the baby blessing and to see my family
4) I am going to Cali in June
5) My sister came to visit me this week
6) I have been going to the gym and am really feeling 100% better than I was a month ago. I am not one of those people who go because I am obsessed or think I have to go, I go because I want to and love it. It is fun for me! The other day I was doing the elliptical and watching baseball. I was almost in heaven.
7) General Conferences strengthens my soul
8) Spring is here and summer is just around the corner. I officially think that the yucky season some call winter is over, but nothing is sure in Utah.
9) I have been writing in my journal again as of late.
10) I went to my cousin's house tonight and had a great time. She is the best.
11) I love my job even though the hours are not ideal.

Official Business

Yes, it is official. Melani and I will be going to see the great Mat Kearney in 2 months! If you don't know who Mat is, please check out his music because he is amazing. If you don't like his music then we can no longer be friends. Ok I am just kidding on that one, but seriously he is great.

In other news, I was able to go to the Draper Temple Open House twice. It was so beautiful and I am so happy I was able to go. The feeling I had there was amazing. I just felt so happy and peaceful. It really reminded me of what is important in life and how I need to be better at focusing on these things.

So, the state cut all of it's full time employees who were on probation. This means that anyone who is relatively new in the system lost their job. Depending on the position, most probation periods are 6 months to a year. I am still speechless as I found out tonight that one of our employees is being let go. This really hits close to home. You know what else does? The fact that my probation period ended on the 21st of this month. That's right, only 5 days before this cut was announced...I was speechless when I found out. I just feel so blessed and that no words can explain how thankful I am. Just barely last week I turned in my paperwork to get me off probation. My boss had been trying to hurry this process along because she knew something major was coming. The Lord knew what was coming too. My heart really goes out to all those who are loosing their jobs and are struggling at this time. I feel so grateful for my job and everything I have. I know my job might be safe for now but they could still do more cuts so I feel like I always have to be on my toes.
